Sandy Phan
Sandy Phan is currently a sophomore at Yale College, majoring in Mechanical Engineering while pursuing a Energy Studies certificate.
Born and raised in Southern California, her interest in environmentalism first began with weekend beach clean-ups and early research in marine conservation. It developed into starting a non-profit directed towards youth awareness of the anthropogenic threats posed upon marine ecosystems, where programs varying from coral bleaching, deep sea species endangerment, and youth activism were born.
Although her motivations still lie in environmentalism, they've blossomed towards a wider scope of contributing towards renewable energy, specifically nuclear energy reprocessing, as well as sustainable clean energy policy. As a Student Writer, she hopes to voice matters concerning sustainability that can be applicable and significant to her fellow peers and beyond, addressing issues within everyday practices that contribute to environmental instability.
